Beckman Coulter · Model AU5800
Reliability - Establishes high reliability targets comparable to the industry-leading AU analyzers. Standardization – Standardized to the current AU480 and AU680 analyzers: same results, same sample racks, same reagents, same calibrators and same software. Broad menu – Offers an expansive menu of general chemistry, esoteric, therapeutic drug monitoring, drug of abuse, urine chemistries, special protein and serology assays. Best-In-Class Ion Selective Electrodes (ISE) – Incorporates the same high-performance ISEs with proven reliability and performance demonstrated in all AU analyzers.
Compiled for this model from its own documentation and established engineering knowledge for this equipment class - not from a verified service record. Confirm against the manufacturer's service manual.
Symptoms: Controls out of range, calibration fails, flagged results, drift over a shift.
Root cause: Reagent or cuvette issue, lamp ageing, a probe / mixer / wash-station fault, or ISE-module problems.
Symptoms: Short aspiration, no dispense, clot detection, probe-position error.
Root cause: Clogged or bent probe, or a clot in the sample.
Symptoms: High cuvette blanks, non-uniform results by position, rotor-drive error.
Root cause: Worn / scratched cuvettes or a wash fault, or a rotor-drive fault.
Symptoms: Electrolyte results biased or noisy, ISE calibration fails.
Root cause: Aged ISE electrodes / reference, or a pinch-valve / tubing fault.
Symptoms: Multiple station alarms, priming failures, poor wash.
Root cause: Water / DI supply quality, a pump, or a vacuum / pressure regulator.

| Part | Service class | Relative cost | R&R difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sample / reagent probes | Periodic replacement | $$ | Moderate |
| Photometer lamp | Frequent wear item | $$ | Moderate |
| Reaction cuvettes / segment | Frequent wear item | $$ | Easy |
| ISE electrodes (Na / K / Cl) & reference | Frequent wear item | $$ | Fairly easy |
| Peristaltic / pinch-valve tubing | Frequent wear item | $ | Moderate |
Relative cost: $ lowest · $$$$ highest service-part cost for this equipment class. Not a price.

Beckman Coulter is recalling the Rack ID Labels because the Rack ID number displayed and the Rack ID barcode label do not match.
The recall was initiated because Beckman Coulter has identified a software error on AU5800 analyzers with the Automation Ready (AR) Sampler Kit. This software error results in the failure of the concentrated wash solution pump to stop, creating an overflow or leak on each analyzer unit.
Beckman Coulter, Inc. initiated this recall because there is a software error that has the potential to cause the reporting of erroneous patient results because of misidentification by the AU5800 system.
Due to a software data storage limitation which only occurs under certain conditions, measurements of the Reagent Blank (RB) or Calibration (CAL) sample results are not saved and the software reverts to a previously stored, acceptable RB/CAL result.
Beckman Coulter is recalling the AU8500 Clinical Chemistry Analyzer because there is no labeling on the diluted detergent tank to show the proper disposition of the on/off valve.
