Sakura · Model Tissue-Tek TEC 5
Embedding system The Tissue-Tek TEC 5 Tissue Embedding Console System consists of two modules that together create an ergonomic workstation for the production of paraffin blocks. The user can position the individual modules from either left to right or right to left, depending on personal preference. The work surfaces of both modules are at the same height and thus the specimens can be transferred easily from one side to the other. The system is fully programmable, with automatic start-up and shutdown capability and precise temperature control of all areas. The capacity of the workspace is 10 cassettes at each side of the dispensing control unit. An electric forceps can be connected easily and placed in one of the six heated wells (to prevent paraffin sticking to the forceps).

Symptoms: Paraffin reservoir, work surface, heated wells or cold plate off set point; blocks embed poorly.
Root cause: Failed heater element or cold-plate cooling, a temperature sensor drift, or a control fault.
Symptoms: No or weak paraffin flow, foot-switch dispense not working, drips.
Root cause: Clogged paraffin filter/strainer, a stuck dispense valve, or wrong melt temperature for the paraffin in use.
Symptoms: Blocks do not set firmly, long cool time.
Root cause: Peltier/refrigeration degradation or a fouled heatsink/fan.
Symptoms: A heated well cold, paraffin sticking to the forceps, forceps not heating.
Root cause: Failed well heater or the electric-forceps connection.
Symptoms: Console does not warm up or shut down on schedule, program lost.
Root cause: Real-time clock / control-board fault or a software issue.
