Haemonetics · Model Cell Saver Elite
Autotransfusion System The Cell Saver® Elite® autotransfusion system is our newest advancement in autotransfusion systems and is intended for use in surgeries in which medium- to high-volume blood loss occurs, such as trauma cases. The system delivers moderate hematocrit and helps to remove traces of undesirable components, such as free hemoglobin, and is a critical tool in helping you avoid unnecessary allogeneic transfusions. SmartSuction® technology has been integrated into the Cell Saver Elite system to increase the opportunities to reinfuse your patients with a greater number of viable red blood cells (RBCs). Additionally, the Cell Saver Elite system provides improved data collection and transfer with an integrated bar code reader, a USB port for quick download of up to 100 stored procedures, and Haemonetics proprietary BloodTrack® Manager CS application for data storage and reporting.

Symptoms: Bowl vibration or noise, speed error, wash aborts.
Root cause: Bowl not seated in the chuck, worn centrifuge chuck, or an out-of-balance bowl set.
Symptoms: Bowl over- or under-fills, wash starts early or late, poor product hematocrit.
Root cause: Dirty or failed optical sensor at the bowl, or air in the line.
Symptoms: "State fault", pump speed/direction error, self-loading pump will not seat tubing.
Root cause: Worn pump rollers/door, a valve actuator, or a CPU/safety-system disagreement.
Symptoms: Unit dies when unplugged, low-battery early.
Root cause: Aged battery pack or charger fault.
Symptoms: Fluid trapped in or leaking from the bowl core during processing.
Root cause: Defective bowl set - subject of Haemonetics Cell Saver / Elite recalls; check the lot.

Potential to develop leaks at the inner core of Cell Saver 5/5+ and Cell Saver Elite/Elite +125ml and 225ml bowl sets. Which could result in fluid being trapped inside the bowl core, causing a long empty device error message with the possibility of incomplete washing.
Haemonetics has received isolated reports that in some cases the 70ml centrifuge bowl may leak during cell salvage processing.
Device emits radiofrequency which exceed the IEC 60601-1-2 International Standard
Disposable Set for Autologous Blood recovery may leak saline at the Y-connector
