• SMART-O-MATIC, automatic compensation circuit which provides the desired output for all electrodes or tissue conditions. The automatic range control, which is divided into ten steps, requires no readjustment within the set range. The SMART-O-MATIC operates in both the unipolar and bipolar modes. • In the MACRO mode, the unit performs as a conventional electrosurgical unit for cutting and coagulation in open and endoscopic surgery, with disposable or reusable accessories. • In the MICRO mode, the generator delivers microsurgical currents, providing output adjustability, impedance and voltage not possible to achieve with a conventional electrosurgical system. • Three generators, all individually adjustable: GENERATOR I: Non-modulated current for smooth cutting and contact coagulation and cutting with blended currents. Blend I mode provides cutting with limited hemostasis, but more pronounced than in the "Pure" mode. Blend II mode delivers a dampened waveform current for more dramatic hemostasis, while still allowing the respective electrode to cut with significant penetration. GENERATOR II: Delivers modulated, high voltage current for spray coagulation and fulguration. The output voltage exceeds twice the level of most solid state electrosurgical generators, particularly when used in such procedures as transurethral resection of the prostrate (TUR). This new solid state design permits massive, fast coagulation for urological, cardiovascular and thoracic procedures. GENERATOR III: A totally independent bipolar generator, which may be utilized at the same time as the monopolar generators, if desired. ELMED continues to lead the way in bipolar generator technology, offering a handswitching mode, or operation by conventional footswitch. The bipolar generator features its own MICRO/MACRO output selector, which extends the versatility of the ELMED ESU 300 M/M DIGITAL. It can even be used as a moist field coagulator in ophthalmic surgery.
