The EIBOS 2 offers simultaneous observation of fundus and incision area, and it is safe for patient's eye by spring-loaded suspension. Its slim body allows space for handling instruments, and the fully centric mounting allows rotation depending on ergonomical aspects. It also has an internal focus ranging from the retina to the upper vitreous body, autoclavable mounting, adapter, and drape for prism body, b=and a swing-away position to minimize interference. For easy and secure exchange the lenses for the EIBOS 2 feature bayonet mounting. With the two available types macular as well as peripheral operations on the retina can be performed. Type 90 D: for approx. 90° viewing angle Type SPXL (132 D): for approx. 124° viewing angle The internal focusing is operated via a lever that can be mounted on the left and/or right hand side of the prism body. The traditional EIBOS lever is beneficial for surgeons that like to do the focusing him/herself. The round handle allows easy focusing for an assistant.

Symptom: No or dim light
- Switch to the onboard spare lamp if the turret allows, then unplug and let the failed lamp cool before replacing it.
- Check the fibre-optic cable for a break and the lamp-turret alignment.
- Check the mains fuse (unplug first).
- Confirm the lamp / engine is fully seated.
- Verify even, full-brightness illumination and correct colour temperature.
Symptom: Head will not hold position
- Re-balance the swing arm for the current accessory load per the manual - never over the operating field.
- Adjust the arm brakes.
- Replace the brake / balance assembly if it will not hold.
- Return the arm to the transport position when moving the stand.
